Forest adaptation strategy for changing environment in the conditions of Beskyds Mts (LASPROBES)Grant service LČRIFER - Institute of Forest Ecosystem Research, Jílové u Prahy, Czech Republic
Doc. Ing. Emil Cienciala, Ph.D.
2009 - 2014
This project, funded by Grant service LCR, was initiated in response to rapidly worsening conditions of spruce stands in the Jablunkov region in the North-East part of the Czech Republic. This region has a specific history of land-use and long-term air pollution. Ongoing environmental changes including increased temperature, moisture and temperature extremes during the vegetation period and increased nitrogen deposition affect spruce-dominated stands. They become heavily infested by insect pests and fungal disease. The ambition of this project is an evaluation of factors affecting forest stands, identification of causal relations and prediction of future development for formulation of an adequate forest management adaptation strategy in the region.
