The monitoring program of forest health in the Beskydy Mts. is based on plots situated in 1x1 km and 4x4 km grids. The monitoring methodology is related to the International Co-operative Program on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests (ICP-Forest). The aim of this monitoring program is to assess the extent and character of changes in development of forest ecosystems. The monitoring of forest health in Beskydy Mts. has been carried out since 1993 on 258 monitoring plots. Forest health is assessed from a set of observed parameters (defoliation of whole crown, defoliation of upper third crown, type of tree top, amount of dry branches in crown, foliage color changes, breaks, bark beetle damages)
