Responsible at IFER:
Martin Černý
Project realization:
2007 - 2009
The project's direct task submitter is the Ministry of Agriculture of the CR and it is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the CR within the framework of the Czech Foreign Development Cooperation Programme. Its duration is from 2007 to 2009. IFER shared in the project by roughly 25 %; the main project contractor was the Mott MacDonald consulting firm and another partner was the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. The project's objective was the transfer of knowledge and technology in the field of determining the forest condition and forest inventory in the Phong My community. It is a hilly region with allochthonous commercial forests in a fairly poor state (e.g. damaged by chemicals during the Vietnam War). IFER workers first conducted initial analysis of the needs of the Vietnamese side that was followed by trainings of the Vietnamese Forest Inventory and Planning Institute (FIPI) experts in the Czech Republic lasting several weeks, delivery of one set of Field-Map technology to Vietnam, and a pilot experiment of the acquired knowledge application with the assistance of IFER workers.
